The sleepy fishing village of La Caleta de Famara is located at the southern end of the Playa Famara beach and is about a fifteen minute stroll from the studio and apartment. It has been a favourite base for surfers from all over the world for many years. It has a relaxed, laidback atmosphere and various tapas bars, restaurants, supermarkets and surf shops. It's a far cry away from mass tourism and will appeal to those who wish to kick back and enjoy the Canarian pace of life.
As well as the 5km long Playa Famara beach, there is also a smaller harbour beach in the centre of the village which is very popular with local families. Younger members of the family will love the tidal pool which fills up on a high tide and provides a safe, protected swimming area.
The nightlife in Caleta de Famara is based around a handful of bars and restaurants. It´s laidback, relaxed and everything is normally closed by midnight. Bartola has live music most Fridays and Bar Sol is a great place to enjoy local fish whilst sitting on the harbour enjoying the view. El Risco Restaurant also offers local fish, pizzas and has an original Cesar Manrique mural on the wall. The local hamburger bar down one of the side streets is a bit of a hidden treasure. The tapas are great, the beers are cheap and it´s a great place to watch Spanish football matches on the large-screen TVs.
